What Does “Enough” Look Like for Me Right Now?

Redefining success in a season that feels like constant striving.

If you’ve recently launched your private practice—or you’re still getting your feet under you—it’s easy to feel like you’re constantly falling short.

You scroll Instagram and see someone building a group practice.
Another provider is fully booked with a waitlist.
Someone else is launching a course, a podcast, a brand.

And meanwhile… you’re just trying to finish your notes on time and figure out if your intake form actually saved.

So let me ask you something that might feel unfamiliar:

What does “enough” look like for you right now?

Not eventually.
Not ideally.
Not what you think it should be.
But in this season, with what you’re carrying, with where you are—
What’s truly enough?

The Pressure to Perform Never Stops (Unless You Stop It)

As providers, we’re trained to go above and beyond.
We’re taught that excellence = overextending.
That rest comes only after everything is done.
That growth always looks like more.

And even when you break out of the system—launch your own practice, create your own hours—the hustle can sneak back in through the side door.

“I should be seeing more clients by now.”
“I need to post more consistently.”
“I should already have a website/funnel/email list/whatever.”

So you end up running a race you never actually wanted to be in.

But here’s the thing:

Enough isn’t a finish line.
It’s a feeling.

And if you don’t define it for yourself, someone else will.

Redefining “Enough”

Success in private practice is not one-size-fits-all.
You get to define what it looks and feels like for you—especially in your first year.

Enough might look like:

  • Seeing 4 clients a day and still having energy to make dinner

  • Paying your bills without working weekends

  • Having one solid referral partner who trusts your work

  • Getting one message from a client saying “This helped so much”

  • Saying no to a client who isn’t a good fit—and not feeling guilty about it

It’s not about how much you’re doing.
It’s about how aligned your practice feels with your actual life.

A Quick Journal Prompt

“If I gave myself permission to stop striving for a moment… what would enough feel like this week?”

Would it mean fewer sessions?
Would it mean logging off at 5 PM and not checking your inbox again until Monday?
Would it mean charging what you need to and trusting that the right clients will come?

You are allowed to define your own pace.
You are allowed to evolve your definition of success.
You are allowed to be enough before you do more.

The Work Isn’t Just in the Doing—It’s in the Unlearning

Inside Strong Roots PMHNP Mentorship, we talk about strategy, yes. But we also talk about capacity. About creating a business that honors your bandwidth. About redefining growth in a way that includes your mental health, your family, and your nervous system.

You didn’t become a psych NP just to burn out in a different setting.

You came here to lead differently.
To create something that’s not just profitable—but sustainable.
And that starts with knowing when to say, “This is enough for now.”
